31st December - Taverners spring surprise at Tuffley
With leaders Henbury being held to a draw at D.R.G. Stapleton and Cribbs Friends Life not playing this was a good opportunity for Tuffley Rovers to close the gap at the top, but they were defeated at home by Taverners.
Taverners really upset second place Tuffley Rovers at Glevum Park going away with the three points from an excellent 3-1 win. The home side never really got their game together in the first 45 minutes and it was Taverners who went in at half time wondering why they were not at least three goals in the lead. The Rovers keeper Mark Harris was the first to be tested fisting away a Josh Jones free kick after 8 minutes. After 14 minutes Taverners carved out another chance but this time Rory Gardiner fired over the bar. Rover’s first effort on goal after 15 minutes was a header from Warren Mann that went just wide of the upright. A few minutes later Pete Thomas was on target for the home side but the shot was not hard enough o beat Ward. Taverners were doing most of the attacking and Rovers keeper Harris brought off a brilliant save to deny Mark Harsant giving Taverners the lead on the half hour mark. Harsant put his head in his hand a few minutes later as he could not believe that he had just missed the best chance of the afternoon to put Taverners ahead blazing over from 8 yards. In the 37th minute the visitors had another great chance to take the lead, this time Harsant being the provider as his header dropped straight to Gardiner just 6 yards out but he scuffed his shot and allowed Harris to save.
Action from Tuffley Rovers V Taverners
Taverners were rewarded for their efforts in the 50th minute when Mark Harsant drove a 20 yard shot past Harris to give them a deserved lead. Rovers almost leveled in the 61st minute as Warren Mann threaded the ball through to Liam Harding but his goal bound shot was brilliantly saved by Ward. The visitors went 2-0 up in then 72nd minute with a break down the left and the ball neatly pushed to Freddie Latchford to run through and slide the ball past Harris. Within a minute, Rovers hit back as Shane Bradley’s header looped over Ward into the net. Rovers at last looked the better side and pushed the Taverners defense hard and only a brilliant save from Ward denied Shane Bradley a second goal that would have leveled the score. Ward was in action again a few minutes later as he again kept out Bradley’s free kick. Taverners always had the ability to break away and Substitute Matt Spring hit the upright with just a minute to go. Then in time added Spring headed home a Josh Jones cross to secure the three points for Taverners.
Ellwood continued where they left off last week with a 3-0 win over visitors Chipping Sodbury Town. They took the lead on 32 minutes with a Mike Nelson goal. They upped the tempo in the second half and netted again in the 70th minute through Matt Addis and then ten minutes later brother Darryl Addis made it 3-0. This win closes the gap on the top three.
Henbury were held to a goalless draw at D.R.G. Stapleton which gives then a six point lead at the top of the table. Although both teams created chances throughout the game neither side could find the back of the net.

Berkeley Town and Bristol Academy had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Station Road. The Academy were down to 10 men after 38 minutes giving the home side the advantage, but they were unable to take that up until them 68th minute when Sam Strickland was put clear to give Berkeley the lead. It looked as though the home side would take all three points but Dominic Stewart salvaged a point for the visitors in time added at the end of the game.
Kingswood continued their good form with a slender 1-0 win at home to Hanham Athletic. The only goal of the game came after 5 minutes from a good break down the right side and Gary Simmons sending over a pin point cross for Ryan Mudd to head home. This win will certainly help them climb away from the bottom of the table
Patchway Town made sure of the three points with a convincing 3-0 win over in form Bishops Cleeve Reserves at Scott Park. Matt Tovey netted a brace, the first after 28 minutes then Matt Davis netted the second on 60 minutes and Tovey finished it off with his second on 63 minutes.

King Stanley’s home form this season has certainly not been at its best but their away form has definitely paid dividends. Their visit to Thornbury Town saw them return home with all three points from a 2-1 win at the Mundy Playing Fields. Stanley took the lead in the 5th minute from a free kick that was played down the wing crossed to the far post where Ben Newman was waiting to knock the ball home from just 6 yards. There was good play from both sides for the remainder of the half but it was Stanley who grabbed a second just on half time rather fortuitously. Ben Newman swung over a corner that crashed against the post and then deflected off Rob Dent into the Thornbury net. Try as they might Thornbury were unable to break down the visitors defense and only Danny Thompson looked as though he might scorer as he fired a couple of shots over the bar before eventually getting the ball into the back of the Stanley net in the 90th minute but much to late to salvage anything from the game.
27th December - Kingswood edge up the table
Henbury go 5 points clear at the top of the table with a win at home to Hanham Athletic, but Cribbs Friends Life missed the chance to go second after a home defeat by Ellwood. Tuffley Rovers were without a game today. At the other end Kingswood move out of the bottom two with home win over Thornbury Town and with Chipping Sodbury Town only managing to pick up a point at home to Berkeley Town they have now dropped to second from bottom.
Kingswood needed a good result from their home fixture with Thornbury Town to try and get themselves out of the relegation zone. In a game that was not a spectacle to watch they managed to win 2-0. Kingswood had a stroke of fortune after 8 minutes as the ball was knocked into the Thornbury box and in a desperate attempt to clear the ball was driven hard straight at Sam Lippiatt who was unable to avoid the attempted clearance and the ball rebounding off him into the Thornbury net. Both teams were guilty of giving the ball away frequently leading to a lot of midfield play but very little action in either box. Ryan Mudd had a great chance to make it 2-0 in the 32nd minute but after finding space for a shot pulled the ball high over the bar. Just before half time Nathan Sage kept the visitors in the game clearing Adam Harber’s goal bound shot off the line.
Action from Kingswood v Thornbury Town
Thornbury looked more determined in the second half and Chris Fox had to be at his best to divert Nathan Irwin’s shot over the bar. In the 55th minute. Town were pushing hard and Kingswood were lucky as they managed to clear off the line to deny them pulling a goal back. In the 60th minute a point blank shot from Sam Lippiatt was some how kept out of the Kingswood net by keeper Fox’s legs. In the 72nd minute Adam Harber should have made it 2-0 for the home side after breaking through the Town defense and with a clear view of goal Thornbury’s keeper Plummer closed the space down and blocked Harber’s shot. A minute later Kingswood went two up a gift from the Town defense. A ball knocked into the box looked quite harmless but somehow Christian Irwin made a mess of his clearance and Adam Harber pounced on the loose ball to round the keeper and sent the ball into an empty net. Thornbury pushed hard and had several free kicks in and around the edge of the box but failed to make them count. In the 85th minute Kingswood should have made it 3-0 as they split the Town defense and Gavin Dibden had a clear run on goal but Plummer closed him down and fended the shot away and it was eventually cleared. Thornbury never gave up and with just a few minutes to go might have pulled a goal back as Dean Morgan curled a left footed free kick into a crowded box only to see Fox rise above everyone and fist the ball away.
Cribbs Friends Life threw away a two goal lead going down 3-2 at home to Ellwood. There were only a few chances created in the first 45 minutes all of them by the home side. Nick Lloyd missed from eight yards after 25 minutes and Simon Bone spooned a Jack Kinnerly cross over the crossbar but five minutes before the break Bone laid on a superb cross from Dave Truan to head Cribbs into the lead. The home side were a little fortunate with the second on the hour mark as Nick Lloyd was clear on goal only to see his shot saved by the keeper but the redound fell nicely back to Lloyd to drive home. You could say that the game turned after the sending off of Matt Shaunessy in the 65th minute getting a red card for a dreadful foul. Ellwood stepped up their game and pulled a goal back in the 75th minute from a Jamie Addis header. Five minutes later they were level after the home defense failed to clear from a corner and Matt Addis took full advantage. Ellwood grabbed the winner right on time with a break down the right by Daryl Addis and a cross to the far post for Gary Wilden to head home.

Henbury go five points clear at the top with a 2-0 win at home to Hanham Athletic. There were no goals in the first 45 minutes but it seems the visitors had the better of the half as they struck the crossbar twice and also hit the upright. The second half got off to a better start for Henbury and a double strike by Harry Bartlett kept up their challenge for the title. The first goal came after 55 minutes with a cross to from Aaron Rosser to Billy George on the left wing and his cross into the box was met by Bartlett to score from six yards. The second in the 78th minute came courtesy of a long ball pumped up field by Kris Sage and the high bounce fooled every one except Bartlett who managed to head the ball over the keeper and into the net.
Bottom Club Yate Town Reserves pulled off a shock 2-1 win at home to Bristol Academy. It was the Academy that took an early lead after just 4 minutes the home keeper fumbling the ball as it ran through his fingers and drop into the net from a Ben White free kick. Within 8 minutes Yate were level as Neikell Plummer was brought down in the box and then hauled himself up to drive home the penalty. The game went to time added at the end of 90 minutes and in that time both sides had chances to have won the game but it fell to Yate when Ron Cousins scored from a 8 yards following a corner
Action from Kingswood v Thornbury Town
Chipping Sodbury Town raced into a two goal lead after 10 minutes at home to Berkeley Town with a brace from Luke Meacham. His opening goal after 5 minutes was a superb shot into the top corner of the net after he had cut into the box from the left. The second 5 minutes later from a corner that was headed back across goal by Lloyd Harding for Meacham to finish off. Berkeley then hit back with a double strike from Sam Strickland the first came in the 15th minute slotting the ball just inside the post. Then with just 5 minutes left Strickland netted the equalising goal when he broke into the box and unleashed a left foot drive into the bottom corner.
Bishops Cleeve Reserves got back to winning ways with a 2-1 success at home to D.R.G. Stapleton, both goals coming from Ben Rhodes. He netted the first after 35 minutes when he headed home Jamie Locks corner then in the 58th minute the visitors drew level with a shot from Shaun Thompson that redounded off the keeper and luckily straight back to Thompson to score with the second effort. Cleeve got the winner in the 75th minute from Alex Buckland’s free kick that was headed on by Paul Ireland and Nick Rhodes was there to finish the job off.

Taverners took an 8 minute lead at home to Patchway Town when a cross from Tom Hanley was poorly dealt with by a defender and the visitor’s keeper leaving Josh Jones and easy task to knock the ball into an empty net. Patchway had their chances in the first half as Jordan Yeo hit the post with a free kick and Matt Davis also missed an easy chance. In the second half Patchway put the home side under considerable pressure but found the home keeper Jeremy Ward in fine form. He was eventually beaten in the 84th minute from a shot from Jordan Yeo as he hit a short corner from the edge of the box past the keeper. The final score finishing al square 1-1.
Kings Stanley’s poor home form continued today when they were beaten 3-2 by Longlevens. Stanley got off to a dreadful start, going a goal down in the first minute giving away a penalty that was put away by Scott Jones for the visitor’s. Longlevens made it 2-0 after 15 minutes when Bradley Martin picked up a poor ball out by keeper Gavin Deans and the forward had the easy task of scoring. Stanley almost got back into the game in the 60th minute as Danny Stephens long throw was hit against the crossbar by Liam Gale. They did however, pull a goal back in the 76th minute as Ben Newman picked up a rebound from a Nick Humphries shot to score. Longlevens then made it 3-1 right on 90 minutes through Shaun O’Connor, but Stanley netted a second in time added, Nick Humphries the scorer.

17th December - Henbury stay top for Xmas
The first postponements of the season as the weather put pay to four fixtures today.
Henbury remain in top spot with a win at home to Longlevens and with Tuffley Rovers not playing until Tuesday evening Cribbs Friends Life grabbed their chance to move into second place with a win at home to Bristol Academy.
On a bitterly cold day and despite plenty of effort from both Henbury and Longlevens we had to wait until the 24th minute before a good goal-scoring chance was created and it went to Longlevens when they won a corner on the right that was curled over to the far post for Craig Martin to head goal-wards but some how Henbury managed to keep the ball out of the net. The visitors had a great chance to take the lead on 27 minutes as Dave Merrick somehow managed to hit his shot high over the bar with just the keeper to beat. Henbury went straight down the other end and may well have opened the scoring but for some great covering by Scott Goodhall who managed to get back to clear the ball off the line. The action had started to flow and when Ben Sandle was bearing down on goal on the right side of the box it looked as though he might give Henbury the lead but he pulled his shot across the goal and it was cleared. In the 37th minute Ben Sandle hit the target with a shot that looked as though it was going in but Longlevens keeper Lee Martin brought of an acrobatic save to deny the striker. With no further efforts on goal from either side they went in at half time goalless.
Action from Henbury V Longlevens
Henbury should have taken the lead in the very first minute of the second half but Aaron Rosser pulled his shot wide of the goal. The only goal of the game came in the 48th minute from a long crossfield ball knocked over from the right side of the pitch by Sandle to the far edge of the box and then crossed into the centre by Eddie Howell for Gary Clark to drive the ball past Martin. Henbury almost scored a second in the 67th minute but somehow Longlevens cleared the ball of the line. Longlevens then had a good spell of possession and pushed the Henbury defense hard and should have leveled the score in the 73rd minute when Andy Trout found himself with a clear shot on goal but fired wide of the target from just inside the box,

Cribbs Friends Life in front of the biggest gate of the day (87) took the chance to move into second place in the table with a 1-0 victory over Bristol Academy. Despite loads of effort from the home side in the first 45 minutes they were unable to break down a very resilient Academy defense. Cribbs leading goal-scorer Simon Bone broke the deadlock in the 60th minute when Dave Truan’s long ball over the Academy defense was met by Bone to coolly chip the ball over the keeper from 20 yards. The home side created several more chances to increase the lead but they could not beat the visitor’s keeper who was in fine form.

Kings Stanley once again threw away a two goal lead and had to be satisfied with a 2-2 draw at home to Berkeley Town. The home side had a great chance to take the lead in the 12th minute, a good move by Matt Casey and Liam Gale set up Ben Newman in front of goal but from 6 yards he screwed the ball over the bar. Sam Prior made up for that miss in the 16th minute when he placed his free kick on the edge of the box into the top corner well out of the way of keeper Ewan Prentice. Berkeley who had settled down by the 34th minute missed a glorious chance to level and then minutes later struck the crossbar. Stanley took a two goal lead in the 57th minute as Liam Gale volleyed home a Ben Newman cross. Berkeley pulled a goal back in the 67th minute from a free kick that was knocked into a crowded box and Ryan Stevenson rose to head home. Ewan Prentice then brought of a brilliant save to deny a further goal for Ben Newman that would have given Stanley a two goal cushion. Berkeley gained a valuable point from the game in the 80th minute when Paul Brooks turned in a cross into the box.
Bishops Cleeve Reserves good run of form came to end with a 3-0 home defeat by Thornbury Town. It was a fairly even first 45 minutes with neither side finding the back of the net, but two goals in the space of 2 minutes in the second half changed all that. In the 60th minute a dreadful back pass was intercepted by Town’s Danny Thompson to put the visitors 1-0 up. Another dreadful mistake a minute later let in Steve Alexander to give Thornbury a 2-0 lead. Thornbury rounded of a fine display in the 80th minute when Danny Thompson netted his second from a cross from the left.

10th December - Cribbs slip up at Chipping Sodbury
All change at the top again as Tuffley Rovers lose at DRG Stapleton, Henbury win at Ellwood and Chipping Sodbury Town hold Cribbs Friends Life to a draw. For the first time in recent seasons fourteen clubs have completed 50% or more of their fixtures by this stage of the season.
Cribbs Friends Life were held to a 1 – 1 drew at Chipping Sodbury Town but they only have themselves to blame for missing numerous chances that they created especially in the first half. They should have opened the scoring after just 42 seconds when Simon Bone crossed into the box but Nick Lloyd with a clear shot on goal blasted the ball high over the bar. Sodbury’s first effort after 4 minutes saw the visitor’s keeper Matt Turner fisting the ball away in a crowded goal-mouth. A few minutes later Turner was again in action when he saved well from a Mike Chillcott 20 yard drive, but within a minute Cribbs took the lead when Jack Kinnerly intercepted a pass, rounded a defender and drove the ball past Ed Mullins giving the keeper no chance. Kinnerly always looked dangerous down the left and the home defense did really well to clear several good crosses into the box from the winger. A mistake out on the right by Sodbury full-back Mike Hodge allowed Simon Bone a free run on goal and from an acute angle beat Mullins with his shot but it went just the wrong side of the far post. With the visitors pushing hard Mullins brought off a great save to deny Dominic Graffagnio 25 yard shot. At the other end, a 30 yard drive from Chillcott was well saved by Turner. In the 30th minute Jack Kinnerly broke clear and cut in from the left and then saw his effort really well saved by Mullins. At this stage of the game the visitors were creating numerous chances and that man Mullins was again called on to prevent Nick Lloyds shot from going in. Five minutes before the break Nick Lloyd again found space on the left but this time drove his shot into the side netting. With all the chances created the visitors should have gone into the break with more than just the 1-0 lead.

Six minutes into the second half the visitors were gifted another good chance when a free-kick was hit straight to Simon Bone who rounded the defender and shot from 25 yards out which looked as though it was going in but Mullins flung himself across the goal diverting the ball out for a corner. Sodbury drew level in the 56th minute when a good build up down the right led to the ball being crossed to the far side of the six yard box and Alex Cummings neatly chipped the ball over Turner. Sodbury were having much more of the play as they pushed forward to try and grab a winner and almost succeeded in the 71st minute when a thunderous shot from full-back Mike Hodge was pushed away by Turner for a corner. The visitors had several more chances to have grabbed the winner but every shot on goal was covered by the home keeper Ed Mullins. Sodbury will be well pleased with the result.
Henbury move back in to top spot with a 2 -1 victory at Ellwood. Jack Mills put the visitors ahead in the 30th minute but a Matt Addis strike 3 minutes before the break put the home side back on terms. However Ellwood’s Jubilation was short lived as Adam Rosser grabbed the winner on the stroke of half time.
Tuffley Rovers relinquished top spot with a disappointing 2-1 defeat at DRG Stapleton. The visitors started well and took the lead in the 28th minute when Shane Bradley was put clear in a one on one situation to coolly slot the ball past the home keeper. The home side hit back in the second half when Joe Galsworthy leveled the score in the 58th minute and seven minutes later it was Galsworthy who chipped the keeper to give the home side all three points.
Bristol Academy are gradually gaining momentum after securing a further three points with a 2-0 win at King Stanley. They took the lead however with a fortuitous goal in the 8th minute when a free-kick was pumped into a crowded box, Stanley’s keeper Gavin Dean went up to punch the ball clear but only succeeded in finding Academy’s Alex Fox, and the ball rebounded off of him into the Stanley net. A second goal right on half time a header from a corner by Oren Kozlowski secured the victory for Bristol Academy.

Kingswood improved their chances of moving up the table with a second win in three games this time at Berkeley Town. It took them until the 80th minute to open the scoring when Ryan Mudd ran clear to give them the lead. Six minutes later Simon Clark sealed the points for the visitors when he turned in a cross from the right.
Bishops Cleeve Reserves continue their recent good form with a 3-1 success at Longlevens. By half time they were leading 3-0, they opened the scoring as early as the 1st minute when Jamie Lock latched on to a poor clearance to give Cleeve the lead. In the 35th minute a Dan Avery shot was brilliantly saved by the home keeper Lee Martin but he was unable to take the ball cleanly and the rebound fell nicely for Nathan Hawley to net number Two. Two minutes before the break Cleeve made it three when Dan Avery turned in Jamie Lock’s cross. The second half the home side faired rather better but only managed a single goal in the 75th minute when Andy Trout’s 40 yard shot dipped and swerved under the cross bar giving Cleeve’s keeper Dan Greenhouse no chance.
Yate Town Reserves put up a much better performance this week despite losing heavily last week and only lost by the odd goal at Patchway Town. Luke Drew gave the home side the lead on 20 minutes with a thunder bolt of a shot. Patchway should have increased that lead in the 35th minute but Jordan Yeo’s penalty was brilliantly saved by the Yate Town keeper.
A six goal thriller at Rockleaze Rangers against Hanham Athletic with both teams sharing the spoils. The scoring in this game fluctuated on six occasions. The home side was tested after just seven minutes when keeper Adams brought of a tremendous save from Hanham’s Callum Gardiner. Pete Newton-Smith opened the scoring in the 19th minute for Rockleaze when he headed home a Neil Simons cross. Hanhams keeper Fletcher then brought off a brilliant save from a Shane Budding free-kick. At the other end Tolo Taylors shot was kept out by keeper Adams. Hanham leveled the score in the 32nd minute Darran Burt’s 25 yard thunder bolt free-kick flying into the top corner. A minute later a mistake by central defender Aaron Day allowed Shaun Morris in to give Hanham the lead. In the 47th minute Aaron Day made up for his earlier mistake when his header was adjudged to have crossed the Hanham goal-line to make it 2-2. Rockleaze then took the lead in the 60th minute when Savas Frangoulis’s shot was misjudged by Fletcher and went in to the top corner. Rockleaze were disappointed in the 65th minute when Cory Simpson got the ball into the net but the assistant referee disallowed the goal. In the 75th minute Hanham leveled the score through Mike Saddler to take a well deserved point.

In the third round GFA Challenge Trophy Taverners were drawn at home to their closest rivals Shortwood United from the Hellenic Premier League and in front of their biggest gate of the season 81 spectators, they held the visitors until the 52nd minute when Parrot gave Shortwood the lead. A second goal in the 71st minute by Slack killed off any hopes of reaching the next round.
3rd December - Rockleaze leave Thornbury defence on the rocks
Tuffley Rovers remain top of the table with win over Hanham Athletic and Henbury’s win over Berkeley Town keeps them in second place. Another big win for Cribbs Friends Life for the second week running at Yate Town Reserves keeps them in third place. Fourth place Ellwood lost ground going down to Bishops Cleeve Reserves.
Rockleaze Rangers take another three points with a 3-0 win over Thornbury Town to lift them up the table. Despite both sides plenty of effort in the first 20 minutes of this game neither side were able to create any chances. The break through came in the 21st minute a real mix up in the Thornbury defense which fortunately for the home side gave Kerry Georgiou a clear sight on goal and from just inside the box he drove the ball past Rob Dent to give them the lead. Thornbury were unlucky just a minute later as a break down the left by James Willott saw the winger cut inside and hit a tremendous shot on target from the edge of the box but the home keeper Nick Adams was down quick at his near post to save and then recovered to keep out the shot that had rebounded to Dean Morgan. Thornbury were their own worst enemies and another defensive error on 28 minutes cost them dearly as Shane Budding netted his first of the afternoon.
Rockleaze Rangers V Thornbury Town
The first 20 minutes of the second half was on the lines of the first 20 minutes of the first half with Thornbury enjoying a little more possession than Rockleaze but no clear cut chances until Rangers full back Savas Frangoullis intercepted a ball in his own half burst forward 70 yards down the right side and finally struck the ball goal-wards, with Shane Budding reading the situation really well and nipping between the Thornbury defender and their keeper to slide the ball home. Thornbury’s only other chance came late on in the second half a header being cleared off the line in a goalmouth scramble.
Cribbs Friends Life net six for a second week running when they over came bottom Club Yate Town Reserves at Lodge Road. It was Simon Bones’s day as the striker netted four of the six goals three of them coming in the second half. Yate found them selves trailing 3-0 at the break but held out to the 24th minute before the visitors broke the deadlock. A defence splitting pass was latched onto by Simon Bone to put Cribbs one up. Then two late first half goals from corners, the first on 43 minutes from Danny Thorpe and the second a minute later from Tim O’Loughlin to send the visitors in 3-0 to the good. The second half belonged to Simon Bone netting another three goals to keep Cribbs in with a chance of the title.
Rockleaze Rangers V Thornbury Town
The game between Kings Stanley and Chipping Sodbury Town produced six goals with both sides taking a point each from a 3-3 draw. Stanley should have been two up after just 5 minutes but failed to find the back of the net with the chances they created. They did however take the lead on 12 minutes when Ben Newnan netted a cross that came in from the left side. Sodbury hit back in the 17th minute when Stanley failed to clear their lines and Lee Gardiner leveled. Liam Gale gave the home side a 44th minute lead when he rode several tackles before driving the ball home. Gale was again on target in the 55th minute when he headed home a Nick Humphries cross from the left. Sodbury never gave up and pulled a goal back in the 65th minute with a Paul Harris strike and then gained a point from the game in the 88th minute as Paul Harris struck again.
A goal on each half was enough for Henbury to keep their title hopes alive against a very subdued Berkeley Town side. Henbury went ahead in the 21st minute after a long ball out of defense by Vinnie Coote was latched onto by Harry Bartlett whose original shot was blocked by the Town keeper only for the rebound to be headed by Bartlett across to Aaron Rosser to drive the ball home. The home side increased that lead two minutes into the second half after a mistake by the visitor’s defense allowing Jack Mills the opportunity to go round the last defender and the visitors keeper before slotting the ball home.
Tuffley Rovers had to settle for just the one goal to take the three points at home to Hanham Athletic. They had created numerous chances and had struck both the upright and the bar without any success. The only goal of the game came in the 22nd minute a fierce drive from the edge of the box by Callum Preece. The home side had two clear chances cleared off the line and the home keeper Mark Harris saved the day when he brought off a brilliant save to deny Hanham after they had been awarded a penalty in the 40th minute.
Rockleaze Rangers V Thornbury Town
Kingswood remain next to bottom after going down 4-1 at Bristol Academy. The Academy took the lead in the 22nd minute after Scott Wilson beat the offside and then squared the ball back for Dominic Stewart to side foot into an empty net. The visitors drew level in the 49th minute Conor McCormack gave away a penalty that Adam Harber netted from the spot. Oren Kozlowski then gave the home side the lead on 57 minutes when he broke through the visitors defense and four minutes later Scott Wilson intercepted a dreadful back pass to make it 3-1. A second goal for Oren Kozlowski in the 74th minute wrapped up the three points for the home side.
Ellwood lost ground in their challenge for the title going down 2-1 at home to Bishops Cleeve Reserves. Two first half goals from the visitors, the first on 10 minutes from Dan Avery and a second from Paul Ireland in the 35th minute took the visitors into the break with that two goal cushion. Although the home side put up a better show in the second half and Matt Addis pulled a goal back in the 75th minute the visitors held on to take the three points.
In the GFA Challenge Trophy 3rd Round D.R.G. Stapleton were drawn against Patchway Town. This turned out to be a convincing victory for the visitors taking the tie 5-2, with four goals coming in the first 15 minutes. Patchway took the lead rather fortuitously after Joe Maynard deflected the ball past his own keeper in the first minute. The home side was level three minutes later when Luke Cousins headed home a Matt Maynard corner. Just a couple of minute later the home side were in front Joe Galsworthy netting from six yards. Patchway then leveled the score on 15 minutes with Jordan Yeo out-stripping the home defense to score the first of his three goals. A penalty from that man Jordan Yeo in the 64th minute gave Patchway the lead and they went on to add two further goals late in the game. Yeo completed his hat-trick in the 86th minute when he capitalised on a defensive mistake by the home side and then Brandon Benjamin added a fifth goal with a header in the 90th minute.
