30^th November 2013 - Patchway hang on to beat Chipping Sodbury

Bristol Academy’s 3-1 win over leaders Longlevens allowed Gala Wilton to close the gap at the top to two points after a 4-0 win at Thornbury Town. It moved the Academy out of the bottom two with Thornbury Town taking their place. Ellwood move into third place with a 1-0 win at Kingswood.

The local derby between Patchway Town and Chipping Sodbury Town turned out to be a very uninspiring affair with both sides failing to keep possession of the ball for very long. The game was settled in the 9^th minute when Brandon Benjamin received the ball just inside the box turned and drove a left footed shot into the corner out of the reach of Sodbury keeper George Hale. The visitor’s first effort on goal came after 21 minutes a shot from Kyle Ford that went over the bar. A shot from Mike England on 28 minutes saw home keeper James Kaminski at full stretch to palm the ball over the bar.

The nearest Sodbury came to scoring was a brilliant individual effort from Dan Bendall that struck the upright and was cleared. Patchway could have sewn the game up in the 79^th minute from a low cross into the box by Matt Davies that John Pugsley skied high over the bar. There was just one more chance for Patchway to get a second just two minutes later but George Hale brought of a brilliant save from Mark Stoneham from point blank range.

The big shock of the day was the 3-1 win Bristol Academy inflicted on league leaders Longlevens. This was a very good performance from the home side who have struggled near the bottom of the table this season. The got off to a great start taking the lead on 9 minutes from a 25 yard free kick that was curled around the wall by Josh Cann. The second on 26 minutes again from a set piece just to the right of the box, this time Josh Cann sent the ball into the box where Josh Jones managed to get his foot to the ball to steer it home. The Academy were well in command after 84 minutes when Adam Mahmood fired a 20 yard shot across the visitors keeper to put them 3-0 up. The leaders pulled a goal back on 86 minutes from a cross into the box that was well controlled by Craig Martin before firing a tremendous shot into the Academy net.

Gala Wilton inflicted a second successive 4-0 defeat on Thornbury Town the home side were well and truly beaten on the day. The home side should have taken the lead on 9 minutes as Danny Thompson broke clear of the visitors defence and then drove his shot against the upright. The visitors took the lead in the 13^th minute from a free kick that was floated to the far post for Craig Harris to head home the first of his three goals of the afternoon. The second for Gala came in the 58^th minute a cross into the box that was missed by home keeper Ross Britton and Harris pounced on the far post for his second. A break in the 70^th minute resulted in a third for the visitors as Ross Britton saved the initial shot but in the following scramble Harris scored his third to complete his hat-trick. Gala’s final goal came in the 75^th minute with a thunderous shot from the edge of the box by Dave Wilkinson that flew into the top corner.

Hanham Athletic ran out 3-2 winners at home to Frampton United but were pegged back twice before netting the winner. The opening goal came in the 15^th minute a header from Adam Grinter, but a minute later Frampton were level after Chris Fower chipped the home keeper. There was a long period before the home side retook the lead on the hour mark as James Shipman headed home from a free kick. Steve Jackson levelled again on 75 minutes this goal also headed home from a free kick. Hanham grabbed all three points on 80 minutes with a great strike from the edge of the box by Craig Stone.

The report from Kingswood indicated that it had been a similar game to the one at Patchway with very few chances created and constantly giving the ball away by both sides. The best chance for the home side came in the 61^st minutes when Lee Williams had a free header on goal that he put over the bar from a great cross by Jim Crossfield. It looked as though it would end in a 0-0 score line until Ellwood’s Derek Roberts spoiled the day for the home side when he broke from midfield to drive a low shot past Chris Fox in time added at the end of 90 minutes.

Bishops Cleeve Reserves and Bristol Telephones shared a point each with a 2-2 score line at Kayte Lane. Josh Carroll gave the home side the lead on 15 minutes but 5 minutes later Telephones levelled the score as Chris Misir tapped the ball home after it was pulled back from the bye line. Cleeve retook the lead on 30 minutes with a Tim Arnold penalty only for the visitors to level again 5 minutes before the break with a penalty netted by Mike Grist. The second half produced quite a few chances that both sides failed to take.

GFA Challenge Trophy Rd 3

There were three Clubs from the Gloucestershire County Football League in action in this competition this afternoon.

Kings Stanley had been drawn home to Toolstation League Premier Division’s Bristol Manor Farm. Although the two division difference told in the end the home side put up a good show. Stanley took the lead on 20 minutes with a solo effort from Liam Gale. The lead only lasted 5 minutes as Pete Shepherd scored for the visitors. Manor Farm went ahead on 65 minutes with a goal from Darren Hopkins and then went into a 3-1 lead on 70 minutes when Pete Shepherd headed home his second from a corner. Stanley keeper Ashley Gale pulled off a great save from a penalty to keep the score at 3-1 in the 80^th minute, and then right on time Danny Carman netted a second for Stanley.

Rockleaze Rangers v Southmead CS Athletic finishes all square at 3-3 after 90 minutes and was eventually decided by penalties. Rangers got off to a dreadful start when Pete Newton-Smith lobbed his own goalkeeper to give Southmead the lead on 15 minutes. The visitors went 2-0 up on 25 minutes when Newton-Smith made a second mistake that allowed Rob Sivers in to score, but within a minute the home side had pulled a goal back from a brilliant individual effort from Otis Wilson who ran thirty yards before driving the ball past Sebastian Gribble. Rangers thought they had levelled on 35 minutes but Valentin Pomfret’s header was ruled out for offside. Sam Andrews got the home side level on 65 minutes when he drove a low free kick past the Southmead keeper. Rangers went in front for the first time on 70 minutes with a goal from Theo Coombs after some great work from Richard Bray. In the very last minute of the game Valentin Pomfret gave Southmead the chance to level when he gave away a penalty and Mark Quinn netted from the spot to take the tie into penalties. After the normal 5 penalties the score was level at 4-4. Rangers Neil Simons missed the first of sudden death and Southmead progressed to the next round 4-3 when Jon Kilpatrick netted.

23^rd November 2013 - Ellwood fight back to defeat Longlevens

Longlevens lose for only the second time this season after leading 2-0 at the break and eventually being defeated 3-2 by Ellwood.

Ellwood started the brighter and forced two corners in the first couple of minutes. Longlevens first attack on goal on 5 minutes ended in a corner on the right that was curled in left footed by Brad Martin and Ryan Dunn found space on the near post to direct his header past Tim Yemm. A second goal from the visitors on 21 minutes was rather fortunate as Brad Martins shot was half blocked but it spun goal-wards and looked to be going over the top, but dipped sharply and dropped in just under the crossbar to goal keeper Tim Yemm’s astonishment. Ellwood’s first real effort on goal came on 30 minutes a well directed shot from Tom Creed that had Jake Underwood moving quickly across goal to collect. Ellwood were unlucky with a header from Matt Addis in the 37^th minute that hit the inside of the upright before being cleared off the line.

The home side found that little extra in the second half and pulled a goal back in the 51^st minute from a Derek Roberts free kick knocked to the far post where Alex Brown rose above everyone else to power his header past Underwood. This was a hard battle fought out by two very competitive sides with the home side just edging the play in the second half. Darryl Addis almost levelled on 62 minutes from a cross in to the box from the left that was powerfully headed goal-wards by the striker but it went just the wrong side of the upright. Longlevens did have a header hit the post on 79 minutes and then saw the ball cleared up field. The home side got a deserve equaliser on 83 minutes as Darryl Addis twisted and turned past defenders in the box before squaring the ball for brother Julian Addis to slide the ball home from close range. Ellwood grabbed the winner on 86 minutes when Julian Addis sent a low cross into the box for brother Matt Addis to turn past Underwood.

Gala Wilton took full advantage of the leaders slip up to take all three points at home to Henbury. No goals at the break but Henbury had the better chances that they failed to take. Adam Rosser missed a great chance to give them the lead after finding himself clear on goal after a defensive mistake by the home side, only to shoot wide of the target. Jack Overthrow missed a good chance to give the home side the lead on 48 minutes. Craig Harris’s great run down the left then crossing the ball into the box for Adam Hemming to turn the ball into the net. The home side were reduced to ten men on 63 minutes when Liam Halliday was dismissed for a second yellow card. Henbury missed two great chances late on – Adam Rosser again the guilty party through on goal but could not beat keeper Ollie Hall. With just 3 minutes to go Jack Bebbington was clear on goal with a one on one situation but shot wide.

Southmead CS Athletic made it three wins on the trot with a 2-1 success at home to Yate Town Reserves. It was a scrappy affair for the first 45 minutes with neither side creating any real chances. Yate changed that situation in the 57^th minute when Jack Parker gave them the lead from the penalty spot. The lead did not last long as the home side hit back 2 minutes later with a superb strike from Gary Booth moving in from the right. The home side then contrived to miss a penalty in the 67^th minute Luke Mills missing the spot kick. Mills almost made up for his penalty miss a couple of minutes later when he chipped the keeper only to see the ball scooped off the line. A goal on 78 minutes created by Gary Booth and John Kilpatrick setting up Luke Mills to hit the winner and make up for his earlier penalty miss.

Frampton United went a goal behind when Toby Waterman gave visitors Bristol Academy a 7^th minute lead with a shot from the edge of the box. 3 minutes into the second half the home side drew level after Palmers cross was met by Kris Bully but his shot was charged down by the visitors keeper only to see it fall to Josh Browning to fire home. The Academy regained the lead on 65 minutes with a shot from Ben Burns. A goalmouth scramble in the 71^st minute resulted in Steve Jackson bundling the ball home for Frampton. United grabbed the winner in the very last minute with a 20 yard strike from Mike Ashenhurst

Rockleaze Rangers slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Patchway Town. The visitors should have been in front in the first couple of minutes but Matt Davies’s shot was cleared off the line by Savas Frangoullis. Ben Lear almost opened the scoring for Rangers in the 30^th minute but saw his shot come back off the post. Home keeper Ashley Bryan saved well to deny Sam Davies a couple of minutes later. Tallen Smith opened the scoring for the visitors on 37 minutes to send the visitors into the break with a 1-0 lead. Rangers Sam Andrews should have levelled on 55 minutes, but five minutes later Rangers found themselves two down after Matt Tovey scored. Rangers were given a lifeline in the 68^th minute when Ed Freeman netted from the edge of the box. The home side thought they had levelled in the 88^th minute but Otis Wilson’s effort hit the post.

Chipping Sodbury Town recorded a convincing win over Thornbury Town netting four times without reply. James Mackie put the home side in front on 7 minutes. A second goal from a corner a header from Justin Cattle made it 2-0. An unfortunate own goal from Tom Webb put the visitors further behind and then in the 73 minute James Mackie netted his second to give the home side a comfortable win.

Kings Stanley’s run of form came to an end with a 2-1 home reverse against Bristol Telephones. Stanley had a couple of early chances but failed to take them. Ashley Gale saved well from telephones Martin Blacker to keep his goal in tact in the 35_th minute. Liam Gale missed a good chance when he shot straight at the keeper. Telephones took the lead on 40 minutes after Stanley made a mess of clearing a corner that left Mike Grist the simple tasks to stab the ball home. Ashley Gale kept out another good shot on 60 minutes to keep the score at 1-0. Just 4 minutes later Stanley conceded a second goal from a mistake in defence that allowed Chris Misir to run clear and net. Stanley did eventually get on the score sheet in the 74^th minute when Liam Gale broke down the left and sent over a great cross for Sam Prior to fire home.

Berkeley Town v Hanham Athletic was abandoned on 41 minutes due to a serious injury to Berkeley player Ryan Collard. Berkeley Town were leading at the time - a goal scored by Sam Strickland from 25 yards. This fixture will have to be rescheduled.

16^th November 2013 - Patchway take points at Berkeley

The top three places remain the same as last week with all three teams recording victories.

Thornbury Town move out of the bottom two after their 1-0 win over Frampton United. Bristol Academy have taken their place second from bottom as they were involved in a Les James League Cup fixture today. Berkeley were defeated at home by Patchway Town and remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Our second visit to Berkeley Town this season – but unfortunately the home side were well beaten by their opponents on the day - Patchway Town. The visitors put Berkeley under pressure right from the start with the home side defending their goal constantly for the first 10 minutes and it was no surprise when Patchway almost took the lead on 11 minutes after forcing several corners in succession the ball was half cleared to the edge of the box where Tallen Smith’s well directed shot had the keeper beaten but it struck the crossbar and went over the top. Just 2 minutes later Patchway went in front from a break down the left by James Stephens who turned the ball inside for Matt Davies to hit the ball past home keeper Miles Palmer. There was an appeal by the home defence for offside but the goal stood. Patchway looked the much better side with the home side struggling to get any further than the visitors box before it broke dawn. The home defence was breached again in the 23^rd minute this time Stephens threaded the ball between the home defenders for Matt Davies to run clear and hit his shot past Palmer. Berkeley forced their first corner in the 28^th minute but the cross was dealt with by the visitors defence. Patchway went further ahead in the 33^rd minute from a dreadful back pass to Palmer that was under hit by fullback Ryan Collard and Brandon Benjamin had the simple task of taking the ball around the keeper and sliding it into an empty net. Within a minute it was 4-0 to the visitors as Matt Davies somehow squeezed a low cross past four Berkeley defenders and straight to the feet of Phil Vice to side foot home. Sam Strickland might have pulled one back for the home side in the 41^st minute but pulled his shot wide of the far post. James Stephens should have scored a fifth for Patchway in the 42^nd minute but pulled it wide with a clear shot on goal. Although the home side had not created much in the first 45 minutes they did manage to pull a goal back right on 45 minutes with a shot from Rob Stringer that struck the corner of the upright and the crossbar before spinning into the net.

The second half produced a much more even 45 minutes with both sides creating chances but failing to get them into the back of the net. The star of the second half was undoubtedly home keeper Miles Palmer who made for or five outstanding saves to keep his side in the game. Davies saw his chance of a hattrick foiled by Palmer on 49 minutes and the keeper made another great save on 56 minutes. Berkeley’s Mike Reece saw his curling free kick scrambled away by the visitors and then James Kaminski pulled off a good save to deny Tom Palmers 25 yard shot from going in on the hour mark. Kaminski then pulled off another good save to deny Ross Stump pulling a goal back for Berkeley. At the other end Miles Palmer was again on for to deny another opportunity for the visitors to score again. Sam Strickland might have scored a second for the home side but Kaminski saved again. Berkeley substitute Joe Dalglish sent in a great dipping shot that Kaminski did very well to save near the end.

A seven goal bonanza at Kingswood where visitors Gala Wilton scored two late goals to win the game 4-3. The visitors were the first to open the scoring in the 10^th minute Adam Hemmings capitalising on a mistake by Paul Eldridge. Kingswood levelled on 30 minutes from a cross by Ryan Mudd that was deflected into his own net by Adam Hemmings. Gavin Dibden gave Kingswood the lead a minute before the break with a shot from outside the box that beat the visitor’s keeper. Two minutes into the second half the home side were 3-1 up after substitute Lee Williams stuck a great shot in to the roof of the net from the edge of the box. The home side let Gala back in to the game on the 72^nd minute when they failed to clear from a corner and Tom Hopkins netted. Then on came Dave Wilkinson for the visitors and he pulled the score level on 83 minutes when he beat the offside trap to fire past Fox. With just three minutes to go Wilkinson was the flavour of the day when he struck the winner for the visitors to take all three points.

Longlevens are going to be hard to catch at present as they recorded their thirteenth win of the season from 16 games played so far. The man of the match in this game was the Yate keeper Glenn Murley whose outstanding performance kept the score at 2-1. It took the home side until the 44^th minute to break through a Luke Kavanagh cross was stabbed goal-wards by Brad Martin but it was going wide until Craig Martin managed to square it back for Lee Blackmore to score his first goal of the season. The young Yate side levelled the score on 60 minutes as the ball was squared back from the left for Dan Clement to volley home. The leaders grabbed the winner on 75 minutes after Murley saved Craig Martins shot, but Brad Barnard followed up to net the rebound.

Southmead carried on where they left off last week, but this time they found the net on five occasions and only conceded the one. It took the home side 40 minutes to open the scoring from a corner that was headed home by Vinny Coote. Then in the second half Rod Wilks found the net three time to complete a hattrick. The first came on 55 minutes when he was played in with an excellent through ball. Bishops Cleeve then had a good spell and reduced the arrears with a great header from a corner at the near post from Dan Keating. Nick Randell headed on a cross to the far post for Wilks to score his second on 81 minutes. The fourth on 85 minutes came from Luke Mills who had come on as a substitute, he was put clear on goal but over ran it wide and then skilfully fired home from a difficult angle. Rob Wilks completed his hattrick with a great shot in time added.

Thornbury Town have moved out of the bottom two after a slender 1-0 win at home to Frampton United. The only goal of the game came in the 24 minute Nathan Sage heading home from a corner.

Bristol Telephones game at home to Chipping Sodbury Town failed to produce many goal-scoring chances the game finishing 1-1 with both goal coming in the last 15 minutes. Ryan Hicks bundled the ball home on 75 minutes from a low cross into the box to put the home side in the lead. Sodbury hit back on 81 minutes to level from a James Mackie shot from the edge of the box. Telephones may well have won this game but for two brilliant saves by the visitors keeper who kept Dhani Goldings shot out and than recovered to save the follow up shot from Chris Misir.

Henbury have lost the early season form they were producing and were beaten at home 3-1 by Kings Stanley. Stanley went in front after 8 minutes as a shot from Sam Prior was well saved by the home keeper but Steve Robertson was there to fire home the rebound. It was Robertson who set up the second goal putting Liam Gale through to place his shot past the keeper. Ben Sandle gave Henbury some hope in the 40^th minute when he picked the ball up out wide cut in and drilled the ball into the net. Steve Robertson put Stanley 3-1 up on 53 minutes when he turned after receiving a long ball out of defence to fire home. Henbury should have made more of the chances they created especially in the first half.

Hanham Athletic v Ellwood failed to produce a goal in 90 minutes of football with both teams having to settle for a point each from this goalless draw.

16^th November 2013 - Les James cup sponsored by Braley Business Systems

Rockleaze Rangers progress to the Semi-final after a 3-2 win at Bristol Academy. Rangers opened the scoring on 12 minutes when Savas Frangoullis was left free to head home from a good cross into the box. Rangers made it 2-0 on 24 minutes from a great interchanging of passes finished off by Otis Wilson. The visitors were well on top after 50 minutes after the home side conceded a penalty that Aaron Day netted to put them 3-0 up. The Academy left it a little late to get back in the game, but they almost managed it in the last 15 minutes. Vinicius Pinto pulled a goal back in the 75th minute and a second on 89 minutes a penalty from Marcus Thatcher was not quite enough.

9^th November 2013 - Southmead strike early to take points at Gala

With the leaders Longlevens not playing today there was a chance for second place Gala Wilton to close the point’s gap at the top of the table.

The visitors to Fairmile Gardens the home of Gala Wilton today was fourth in the table Southmead CS Athletic. There had been some heavy rain the previous day that made the surface sticky but playable. The game kicked off 15 minutes late due to an oversight on the visitor’s part - nobody had collected their kit and after some frantic phone calls it eventually arrived.

The game itself was hammer and tongs from the off with both sides getting stuck in and the referee letting the game flow as much as he could. There were two contrasting styles off play with the home side preferring to use the long ball, whilst the visitors tried their best to knock the ball around on the ground. It took only one goal to settle the game and it came in the 3^rd minute from a break down the right by Southmead with the ball being knocked into the box – it was cleared away but fell nicely for Gary Booth 25 yards from goal on the left side of the box and he unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot that whistled passed diving home keeper Ollie Hall, striking the upright on its way into the net. The next 38 minutes produced plenty of action from both sides but it was all centred around the midfield with both defences in control at the back. Southmead looked the better side for most of the first half and looked strong going forward but were unable to break through again. The nearest they came was in the 42^nd minute when Chris Storr had his goal-bound shot well blocked.

The home side started the better second half and the visitors had to defend in depth to keep a clean sheet. Gala were unlucky in the 54^th minute with two clear shots on goal. The first from Myron Turner was kept out by the legs of keeper Sebastian Gribble with the rebound finding Joel White to hammer another low shot on target only to see Gribble save with his legs again. Gala’s Jack Overthrow saw his effort on goal in the 77^th minute just clear the bar. At the other end Ollie Hall brought off a great save to deny Rob Wilks in the 80^th minute - with the final effort coming from the home side’s Tom Hoskins with a shot just wide of the target.

Six goals at Kings Stanley where the home side ran out 4-2 winners over visitors Kingswood. Stanley took the lead on 12 minutes with some good play from Sam Prior and Natty Buckland setting up Ben Newman to score. Stanley squandered several good chances before Matt Buckland made it 2-0 at the break. A third goal by Stanley in the 55^th minute came from a great cross to the far post by Sam Prior for Luke Barstow to head home. Kingswood pulled a goal back from a corner in the 60^th minute netted by Josh Stokes, but Stanley restored their three goal lead in the 67^th minute with a second goal from Ben Newman. Kingswood were lucky with their second goal as an attempt to clear the ball from the six yard box struck a Stanley defender on the back and rebounded into the net.

A 2-2 draw was the order of the day at Frampton United where visitors Bristol Telephone came from two gaols down to salvage a point. The home side opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a shot from the edge of the box by Karl Palmer. Steve Jackson’s solo run in the 21^st minute put the home side in the driving seat by the break. Telephones pulled a goal back on 70 minutes with a great shot from Chris Misir and then grabbed a point in the 84^th minute when Luke Palmer volleyed home.

The two other fixture due to be played today Rockleaze Rangers v Thornbury Town and Bristol Academy v Berkeley Town were postponed.

Chipping Sodbury Town reached the semi-final with a crushing 6-1 defeat over Ellwood. James Mackie was the star of the day with a hat-trick. His first came after 10 minutes, with Ollie Clark following up with a second gaol five minutes later a shot from the edge of the box. Sodbury made it 3-0 on the hour when James Mackie found himself with a one-on–one situation and round the keeper to score his second. Ellwood’s Ben Schiller pulled one back from a corner on 65 minutes, but there was no stopping the home side as James Mackie completed his hat-trick just five minutes later to make it 4-1. Alex Fox then netted a brace in the 82^nd and 85^nd minute the second a superb 30 yard drive that flew into the top of the net.

Patchway Town are also through to the semi-final after defeating local rivals Henbury 2-1. A minutes silence was held before the kick-off in memory of former Henbury player and Committee Member Bobby George who passed away this week. Patchway took an early lead through Tallen Smith whose effort took a deflection on its way in. Patchway had a great chance to make it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 35 minutes but Matt Tovey missed with his spot kick. A great save from keeper Alex Lippiatt just before the break - denying Aaron Anglin the chance to pull a goal back for Henbury and keeping his goal intact sent then in at the break with that one goal lead. Henbury thought they had done enough to possible send this game into penalties when they levelled the score in the 85^th minute from the penalty spot – Jack Mills driving the ball home. However, the game was won by Patchway in the 90^th minute with another penalty after Matt Tovey had been brought down - James Stephens was given the job of taking the penalty and coolly slotted it home.

2^nd November 2013 - Henbury blown away at Frampton

The worst weather conditions so far this season with very strong winds and heavy rain affecting all the games played today.

The top two teams Longlevens v Gala Wilton ended in a 1-1 score-line so the gap at the top remains the same. Southmead CS Athletic drop to forth place after losing 2-0 at home to Kings Stanley.

At the bottom of the table Berkeley Town v Thornbury Town ended in a 3-3 draw, whilst Bristol Academy and Rockleaze Rangers both lost.

The game at Frampton United saw a strong wind driving straight down the pitch and both sides found it difficult to control the ball throughout. Frampton United mastered the conditions better than the visitors Henbury and won the game 4-0.

The home side were kicking against the wind in the first half and almost scored after 3 minutes, but Frazer Wilsons effort went just over the bar. Chris Fower was played into a scoring position on 13 minutes but visitors keeper Cameron Tarr moved quickly to smother his goal-bound shot. 4 minutes later Tarr was in action again pulling off a good save to deny Josh Browning. Henbury struggled to make any inroads on the home defence and in the 22^nd minute Frampton took the lead from a long throw down the left that reached the edge of the box where it was headed into the six yard box for Steve Jackson to pounce and score from 6 yards. Henbury’s first real shot on goal came after 28 minutes and it almost brought a goal. Ryan Innoles hit a superb low shot from 25 yards that had home keeper Dan Borg diving to push the ball around the post for a corner. Frampton increased their lead on the half hour from a good break down the left by Alex Parrott who was impeded by the Henbury defender but recovered to knock a low cross into the six yard box for Chris Fower to slide the ball home. Just before the break Henbury had their best chance to pull a goal back but the cross into the box was missed by everyone.

The visitors started the second half with a bit more conviction and pushed hard, but they failed to find away through a stubborn defence. Henbury were unlucky in the 65^th minute as a cross from the left to the far post was hit on the volley by Jack Mills but the shot hit the crossbar and was cleared. With Henbury pushing up they were caught out on the 74^th minute with a long ball that found Ryan Vincent just inside the Henbury half and he just cut into the middle and with a one on one situation just managed to slide the ball agonisingly past Tarr to make it 3-0. A minute later Henbury’s Jack Mills thought he had scored as he saw keeper Borg scramble across goal and just hook the ball from just inside the post. Frampton scored again on 78 minutes after the ball was back heeled by Karl Palmer for Frazer Wilson to drive past Tarr.

At the bottom of the table Berkeley Town and Thornbury Town shared the points with a 3-3 result. The visitors were the first on the score sheet, Nathan Irwin heading home a left wing cross after 12 minutes. They had a great chance to increase that score on 15 minutes from the penalty spot, but the usually reliable penalty taker Toby Bennett saw his kick well saved by home keeper Pete Lavis. A 20 yard shot on 20 minutes from Sam Strickland put the home side on level terms. Thornbury went ahead again on 33 minutes when Dan Thompson rounded the keeper to score. Berkeley hit back again on 41 minutes and again it was Sam Strickland scoring with a low shot into the corner from just inside the box. Nathan Irwin headed the visitors into a 3-2 lead on 56 minutes, but the home side were not done and hit back to level once again on 64 minutes with a Rob Stringer goal.

The two teams at the top of the table Longlevens and Gala Wilton faced each other in this local derby for the first time this season and the spoils were shared in a 1-1 draw. Not many chances created throughout the game although Shaun O’Connor went close on 20 minutes for the home side. It was the home side that went ahead after 30 minutes from a Brad Martin corner that was volleyed home through a crowd of players by Dave Rich. Both sides got the ball into the net in the second half but they were both ruled out for offside. Gala drew level on 70 minutes when Dave Wilkinson headed home a Greg Artus cross.

Southmead CS Athletic are having a tough time at the moment as they lost their fourth game in a row in front of their lowest ever crowd, going down 2-0 at home to Kings Stanley. The home side never really got going and went a goal down on 30 minute when Stanley’s Liam Gale rounded the keeper. The second just 3 minutes later netted by Nathan Buckland from a corner looked to have been handled by the player but the goal stood.

Ellwood move into third place with a 3-1 win over Bristol Academy. Tom Creed’s low cross into the box on 15 minutes was turned in by Darryl Addis and it was Darryl Addis again on 26 minutes turning on a long ball to net his second. The Academy got themselves back in the game on 41 minutes with a great shot from the edge of the box by Mark Parsons. Ellwood sealed the point on 67 minutes with a break down the right and a good cross into the box for Matt Addis to make it 3-1.

Just one goal at Yate Town Reserves was enough to take then 3 points against Patchway Town. This was a game of few chances that was decided by two penalties one scored and one missed. Jason Henley was brought down in the box on 70 minutes and Jack Parker netted from the spot to put Yate ahead, but 5 minutes later Patchway had the chance to level the score from the spot after Matt Tovey was felled in the box. Mark Stoneham took the kick but blasted it well wide.

A double from Lee Williams gave Kingswood a 2-1 success over Chipping Sodbury Town. Williams struck after 8 minutes after being set up by Ryan Mudd. Sodbury levelled on 32 minutes after a good ball into the box by Dan Bendall was turned into his own net by Josh Stokes. Lee Williams then put the home side back in front on 65 mantes with a well stuck shot from the edge of the box. Sodbury had a great chance to level in the last minute of the game from the penalty spot, but keeper Chris Fox saved Alex Fox's penalty and then save the follow up.

Hanham Athletic took a two goal lead at home to Bishops Cleeve Reserves. A Jack Tottle header on 44 minutes gave them a 1-0 half time lead. Five minutes into the second half Adam Grinter scrambled the ball home to make it 2-0. Cleeve were given some hope on 75 minutes when Jack Tottle who had scored earlier for the home side gave away a penalty that Tim Arnold converted. The home side hung on for the last 15 minutes to take the points.

Bristol Telephones Ben Griffiths netted a double to give the home side a 2-1 victory over Rockleaze Rangers. The visitors went into the break with a one goal lead after Oshane West headed home on 40 minutes. A great build up in the 62^nd minute from the home side paid off when Ben Griffiths levelled the score and then 8 minutes later it was Griffiths who scored again to take the points.
