At the bottom Henbury ease their problems with a 3-1 win at Chipping Sodbury Town and Rockleaze Rangers won 2-1 at home to Thornbury Town.
The game at Station Road Berkeley where Gala Wilton were the visitors was a game you could easily forget. The visitors had a large portion of the possession but failed to make it count. The home side were on the defensive for a large proportion of this game. It was difficult to play really good football on a very uneven pitch. The early chances fell to the visitors the first after four minutes was a thirty five yard drive from Gala’s Ben Wood that went over the bar. Another good chance went begging for the visitors on fourteen minutes. Gala’s Lee Allen then contrived to miss from six yards after the ball had been pulled back from the by-line on twenty six minutes. Town’s first effort on goal came after thirty mantes a powerful drive from Chris Andrews that went straight at keeper Ollie Hall. The only goal of the game came in the thirty eighth minute which had an element of luck. Brett James got behind the home defence cut the ball across goal and an attempted clearance from Richard Reece slice of his leg into his own net.
The second half was played almost entirely in the home teams half as Berkeley defended stoutly. The odd venture into the Gala half was usually a long ball over the defence which was always covered by the ever alert Ollie Hall. The only corner from the home side in the second half came after fifty eight minutes a Sam Strickland cross that was fisted away by Hall. For all the possession Gala had in the second period they failed to find away through the home defence.
A goalless first forty five minutes at Bristol Telephones who were entertaining league leaders Longlevens. That all changed in the second period with the home side taking the lead on fifty minutes when Mike Grist fired his free kick through the wall into the visitors net. The lead only lasted two minutes as Ed Smyllie headed home the equaliser. Dave Merrick gave the visitors the lead a few minutes later. The home side were unlucky in the sixtieth minute which would have levelled the score but Jack Fillinghams effort struck the bar. Shaun O’Connor put the visitors further ahead on sixty four minutes from a free kick. Two further goals from Brad Martin late on gave the visitors a comfortable win in the end.
A point each for Patchway Town and their visitors Ellwood. Ellwood went in front on twenty minutes after Darryl Addis hit a powerful drive from the edge of the box that the home keeper failed to hold and Addis followed up to score. The home side levelled the score on fifty five minutes after a cross into the box was punched clear by the visitor’s keeper it went straight to Sam Davies who returned the ball back across goal for Tallen Smith to stab into the net.
Kings Stanley hit six past the Bristol Academy defence with out reply. In a fairly one sided game the home side took a four – nil lead by the break. Steve Robertson almost gave them the lead on fifteen minutes, and then ten minutes later they opened the scoring from a break down the right and a cross into Liam Gale to put Stanley one up. Three minutes later Lee Pritchard rose at the far post to head number two. Gale scored again on thirty minutes picking up a loose ball after the visitors keeper failed to hold on to a previous shot. Gale completed his hat-trick on thirty seven minutes when he beat the Academy keeper to the ball and slotted it into the net. It was five – nil after fifty minutes when a corner was played in short then knocked to the far post for Luke Barstow to head home. The final goal on the hour came from the penalty spot slotted home by Sam Prior after Andy Roberts had been brought down in the box.
Rockleaze Rangers v Thornbury Town was a must win for both sides, but it was the home side who took the three points. The opening goal came on twenty one minutes from a forty yard shot whipped in by Jabari Ngozi that deceived everyone including the visitors keeper who seemed to be wrong footed as the ball crossed the line. That lead lasted just five minutes as Thornbury hit back from a free kick that was headed home by Nathan Sage. Rangers then missed a penalty in the thirtieth minute after Riki Lippiatt had pushed Ed Freeman following a corner; Sam Andrews had his penalty saved by the legs of Town keeper Alex Lippiatt and this being his second spot kick miss of the season. In the fifty second minute Rangers were reduced to ten men when Ashley Hawkins received a red card after a scuffle on the far side of the pitch. Rangers grabbed the winner in the seventieth minute with a superb piece of skill from Ed Freeman who volleyed home from fifteen yards at a very tight angle, the ball smashing into the roof of the net.
Henbury will be pleased with today’s performance at Chipping Sodbury Town after gaining their first win in weeks. The got off to a fantastic start when Gary Clark put Ben Sandle clear after just fifty five seconds to give Henbury the lead. Sodbury pulled it back level on seventeen minutes with a goal from Dan Bendall. Harry Bartlett put Henbury back in front on twenty eight minutes latching onto a long ball rounding Lloyd Harding before firing home. A third goal on sixty eight minutes from the penalty spot put away by Harry Bartlett gave the visitors the three points and help them climb the table.
Frampton United have just one fixture to play to complete there season, Their penultimate game at home to Bishops Cleeve Reserves ended in a three – nil win. United had several good chances to open the scoring early on but took the lead in the eighteenth minute with a wonder strike from Jake Ward who hit an unstoppable thirty five screamer into the Cleeve net. Cleeves first chance came in the fifty first minute when Neil Goodwin went close with a header that just cleared the bar. In the fifty eight minute Matt Cook squared the ball back for Chris Fower to slide the ball into an empty net. Fower made it three on eighty six minutes when he intercepted onto a back pass to net his second.
Yate Town Reserves picked up a valuable point at home to Hanham Athletic. It was Yate who were the better side for good portions of the game but they were unable to break the visitors defence down. The visitors were also unable to make the break through and the game ended goalless.

Les James Cup sponsored by Braley Business Systems Semi-Final - Ellwood V Longlevens
The Les James League Cup Semi-final between Ellwood and Longlevens was a very competitive affair with both teams determined to reach the final. Longlevens are a very difficult team to beat and Ellwood had not lost at home going into today’s game. The visitors were the first to show their intent when Craig Martins shot skimmed the top of the crossbar after two minutes. At the other end a good build up allowed Matt Addis a clear shot at goal but it went wide. In the ninth minute Ellwood cleared off the line from a corner and a minute later home keeper Tim Yemm dived in courageously to take the ball off the toe of Brad Martin. At this stage Yemm in the home goal was kept busy when he pulled off another good save to deny Brad Martin again. Darryl Addis went really close to opening the score when he headed just wide from a good cross into the box on twenty minutes. Longlevens took the lead in the thirty third minute rather a fortuitous goal. Brad Martin curled a left footed free kick in from the right it seemed to deceive keeper Tim Yemm who failed to collect and Ed Smyllie was on the far post to force the ball home. A couple of minutes later a cross from left by Brad Barnard looked really dangerous but the Ellwood defence got it away for a corner. Longlevens made it two – nil on thirty seven minutes this time a brilliant individual effort from Brad Martin who cut in from the right and curled a superb left footed drive past Yemm into the far corner. Just before the break Ellwood were awarded a free kick twenty five yards out right in the centre of goal - Gary Wilden’s drive was powerful but was not quite low enough and it skimmed over the bar.
At the start of the second half Ellwood were second best and allowed the visitors a lot of possession. Disaster struck for the home side in the fifty eighth minute when Brad Martin was put clear on goal and with just Yemm to beat he was impeded by the keeper who received a Red card and gave away a penalty. Full back Adam Price took the keepers jersey and the first time he touched the ball was to pick it out of the back of the net after Shaun O’Connor scored from the penalty spot. The home side never gave up and a cross from Gary Wilden almost brought a goal for the home side with a good cross to the far post but sub Ryan Dawson was unable to make contact with the ball. In the seventy third minute Tom Creed went close for the home side with a shot just over the bar, but a minute later Ellwood got on the score sheet when Mike Nelson’s shot from just outside the box took a deflection that left keeper Mark Harris wrong footed. The visitors should have scored again a minute from the end when Brad Martin was put clear but his shot was well saved by stand in keeper Price pushing it away for a corner.
Les James Cup sponsored by Braley Business Systems Semi-Final - Rockleaze Rangers v Patchway Town - Report by Mike Wheatley
New Manager Neil Simons celebrated his first game in charge by guiding Rockleaze Rangers to the final of the Les James Cup against previous winners Patchway Town.
In a dour game of few chances, watched by a crowd of over 50 spectators, the home side had two shots on target to one from the visitors.
Sam Burgess in home goal was called upon to clear from way off his line in the 8th minute and this set the pattern for the rest of the half - as he appeared to be playing as an extra "sweeper" from the edge of the home penalty area.
The first shot on goal after 13 minutes resulted in the only goal of the game. Rhys Davis for Rockleaze made a run down the left and cut inside to shoot past Patchway 'keeper James Kaminski.
Burgess was called upon to clear again after 15 minutes, but Patchway could not find any sort of form - relying on pumping the ball forward in hope that one of their strikers could find a chance.
It was Rockleaze who took the initiative for the rest of the half, with chances from Oshane West after 19 minutes, Ashley Hawkins after 28 minutes and James Willot after 40 minutes - all off target.
The first half ended with Patchway replacing injury victim Matt Tovey with James Stephens.
The second half continued in similar uneventful manner until 71st. minute, when Sam Andrews for home side, shot straight at Kaminski - for only the second shot on target in the game. This was followed - on 73 minutes - by a shot over the bar from Oshane West.
After 75 minutes Patchway had their first shot on target when Matt Davies cut in from the left and fired directly at Burgess in the home goal.
Patchway replaced Oliver Bacon with Alex Graham after 88 minutes, but that was the final substitution - new manager Simons staying with his starting line-up.
On 88 minutes Jimmy Potts for Patchway ran the ball into the home defence and laid the ball off to Matt Davies who found Sam Davies, only for the resultant shot to pass harmlessly over the bar.
The game limped to its conclusion following a melee in home penalty area resulting from a free kick from within Patchway half which was eventually cleared by goal scorer Rhys Davis.
Not a memorable game for a pleasant - if breezy - Saturday afternoon.
League games

Bristol Telephones put a dent in Kings Stanley’s recent run of form with a convincing four – one victory. Mark Griffiths gave the home side a four minute lead with a twenty five yard shot. Michael Grist made it two – nil on fifteen minutes with a headed goal from a Luke Palmer free kick. Jack Fillingham made it three on the half hour heading home after the ball had deflected off Chris Misir. A long ball up the centre found Steve Robertson to pull a goal back for Stanley a minute before the break. Martin Blacker netted a forth for the home side on seventy five minutes after being set up by Chris Misir.
Berkeley Town pulled of a surprise two – nil win at Hanham Athletic. Both goals came in the first forty five minutes. The opening goal on thirty eight minutes was a corner headed down to Joe Blakeney who fired home from close range. A second on forty four minutes and individual effort from Sam Strickland who broke down the flank cut in and drove the ball across the keeper into the far corner. Unfortunately the home side finished the game with ten men.
Kingswood were held to a draw at home to Bishops Cleeve Reserves. Not a great game with few chances the visitors took the lead on twenty two minutes with goal from Will Pugh. It took a diving header from Lewis Jackson in the eighty fifth minute to salvage a point for the home side.
Thornbury Town’s winning streak came to an end when they were narrowly beaten one – nil at home by Chipping Sodbury Town. Thornbury had bad luck and also missed a catalogue of chances in the first thirty minutes of this game Pete Fowler – Nathan Sage – Nathan Irwin all had efforts either strike the cross-bar or the upright when on another day they may have gone in. The sucker punch came in the thirty fifth minute from a corner that Sodbury’s Justin Cattle forced home. In the second half Thornbury almost drew level after brothers Steve and Danny Thompson combined to create the chance that saw Danny’s shot hit the bar again.

Berkeley Town lose again at Patchway Town and Yate Town Reserves drop into second from bottom Both Rockleaze Rangers and Thornbury Town picked up 3 points today.
Yate Town Reserves who have struggled of late were up against leaders Longlevens and new they would have to perform exceptionally well to contain last seasons Champions. They managed to do that until the sixty seventh minute holding them to a one – nil score-line. The home side matched the visitors until the thirteenth minute when they gave away a corner on the right. A low cross into the box from the corner was not cleared by Yate and Ed Smyllie fired home from twelve yards in a crowded box. The visitors pushed the youngsters hard and Shaun O’Connor should have made it two on eighteen minutes but lifted his shot over the bar. In the twenty ninth minute a good run into the Yate box by Ryan Dunn should have resulted in a goal but the shot was off target. A good cross from the left by Brad Martin found the head of Craig Martin at the far post but again the header went wide of the target. Just before the break it was the turn of Dave Merrick to squander another good chance.
Yate struggled to get past the visitors defence but managed a good free kick into the box on forty eight minutes only for the visitor’s keeper Mark Harris to cut the cross out. The only shot on target for the home side came in the fiftieth minute from Jason Bradford a terrific drive from the edge of the box that Harris did really well to save. When Longlevens scored their second goal on sixty seven minutes it was a clever interchange of passes that allowed Dave Merrick a clear run on goal to chip the ball over the Yate keeper Reece Joint. The visitors had control of the game and a third goal on sixty nine minutes a fantastic thirty yard drive from Shaun O’Connor gave the keeper no chance. Longlevens brought on Brad Barnard and he had a shot cleared off the line on seventy five minutes by Ben Fox. In the eighty first minute a free kick out on the right was struck really hard at the Yate keeper who managed to parry the ball but it fell to Dave Merrick to net his second of the afternoon. By this time the Yate side were on the back foot and a corner from the left on eighty three minutes was headed home by Brad Martin to make it five – nil.
Bristol Telephones moved into third place in the table with a four one win at Chipping Sodbury Town. The first forty five minutes produced very little with all the goals coming in the second half. Chris Misir‘s through ball on fifty two minutes gave Martin Blacker the chance to put Telephones one up. Sodbury did level the score when Pierce Byrne turned the ball into his own net. Ryan Hicks then restored the lead for the visitors in the seventieth minute. Martin Blacker netted his second just three minutes later and leading goalscorer Chris Misir rounded it of with a fourth for Telephones for a convincing win.
Kings Stanley continued their good form with a two – nil win at home to Henbury. The opening goal came on thirteen minutes from a good run down the left by Liam Gale and a cross that found Natty Buckland on the far post to head home. They could have had another on twenty minutes but Josh Wilson lifted his shot over the bar. It was the eightieth minute before the second goal arrived and it was a long ball over the Henbury defence latched onto by Brad Moore who coolly chipped the ball over the keeper.
Patchway Town took the three points from their home game with Berkeley Town with the only goal of the game that was scored by Matt Davies after being put clear by Matt Tovey on fifteen minutes. Frampton finished the game with ten men after Kris Bully received a red card late on for a bad tackle.
Rockleaze Rangers pulled of a double over Bristol Academy when they beat them two one this afternoon. The two teams met last Monday at the Wise Campus where Rockleaze came away with five – nil win. Today’s result will help them try to avoid finishing in the bottom two. Strangely this result was decided by two penalties for the home side. The Academy went ahead on fifteen minutes when Sam Johnson squeezed his shot under Burgess who tried in vane to recover the ball as it trickled over the line. Rockleaze did get the ball in the net on eighteen minutes but it was ruled out for offside. However ten minutes later they were on level terms when Academy keeper Seb Yemmes brought down Ed Freemen in the box and Nathan Bryer netted from the spot. A second penalty on seventy eight minutes won this game as Josh Cann brought down Otis Wilson for a second spot kick. Nathan Bryer duly obliged from the spot.
Ellwood and Hanham Athletic finished all square with both sides finding the back of the net once in the first forty five minutes. A poor back pass to Ellwood keeper Tim Yemm on twenty seven minutes caught the keeper out when the ball bobbled just as he struck it and Craig Stone latched onto it to put the visitors ahead. Six minutes later the home side were level when Gary Wildin’s chip over the visitors defence found Darryl Addis to score.

The opening goal on twenty five minutes was a twenty five yard thunderbolt from Jordan Thaws. The second five minutes later was headed home at the far post by Luke Coghlan following a free kick. Cleeve pulled a goal back a minute before the break after some good build up play from Gavin Garthwaite and Harlie Price enabling James Pickup to side foot the ball home.
Gala Wilton dropped valuable points at home to Kingswood when they were held to a two – two draw. There were numerous chances throughout the game most of which fell to the home side. Ryan Hughes and Alex Prichard missed early chances, but Gala took the lead on twenty seven minutes from a free kick that was pumped up field picked up by Brett James who sent the ball across goal for Ryan Hughes to score. Kingswood levelled the score on sixty minutes from a Frank Hitchings cross squared into the box for Jim Crossfield to drive the ball into the net. The visitors took the lead on seventy nine minutes from the penalty spot after Adam Hemming had pulled back Jim Crossfield in the box and Simon Clark made no mistake from the spot. Ian Evans the Kingswood manager who was deputising in goal today brought of a great save to deny Myron Turner in the eighty fifth minute but was unable to stop Ryan Hughes getting the equaliser just a minute later.

At the other end a last ditch header from Frampton defender Liam O’Neil prevented the home side going in front. Right on half time Martin Blacker picked up the ball just inside the Frampton half steamed forward made space for the shot but then shot straight at Gearon.
Frampton must be kicking themselves at losing this game after creating three of four good goal scoring opportunities in the second half. The break through came on thirty four minutes from a long goal kick from home keeper Mark Harris that was picked up by Brad Martin to put Dave Merrick clear and hit a tremendous shot that Greenhouse got his hands too but could not prevent it going in. The home side continued to control the game and got a second goal on sixty minutes from Nick Humphreys who had just come on as a sub and with his first touch fired a low drive past Greenhouse. Four clean sheets in a row for the leaders and Keeper Mark Harris has been a party to three of them.
Kings Stanley continue to climb the table and are now in fifth place after their three – nil win at Kingswood. A double strike from Luke Barstow got Stanley on their way to the three points in the twenty second minute with a shot from the edge of the box. Barstow then headed Stanley into a two goal lead on the half hour mark. Kingswood woes continue when in the very last minute of the game they conceded an own goal when Paul Elderidge put the ball into his own net.
Bottom Club Berkeley Town picked up a valuable point with a one – one draw at home to Bristol Academy. It is the same old story for Berkeley they are finding it difficult to score. They should have been one up at the break but missed a penalty. They did however take the lead on sixty five minute with a goal from Ross Phillips, but the lead was short liveds the Academy hit back three minutes later with a goal from Vinicius Pinto. The home side hit the crossbar and a brilliant double save from the Academy keeper kept them out.

This mornings leaders Gala Wilton suffer their heaviest defeat of the season going down 6-0 at home to local rivals and league challengers Longlevens.
Frampton maintain their third place position with a 2-0 win at Henbury.
At the bottom of the table Thornbury Town’s win over Berkeley Town moves them up a place to forth from bottom, but Rockleaze remain next to bottom after going down to Bristol Telephones. Yate Town Reserves are slipping down the table after losing at Patchway.
Yate Town Reserves young side put up a good display against a Patchway Town side who pressurised the visitors defence as much as they could in the opening fifteen minutes. Matt Tovey went close on three minutes and a minute later Phil Vice could have done better with a clear header on goal that he put wide. Yate weathered the storm and had their first attempt on the Patchway goal after ten minutes a twenty five yard shot from Sven Hopes that went straight into Ashley Wells’s arms. The only goal of the game came in the thirteenth minute from the penalty spot. Yate’s Daniel Worton committed the foul and Matt Tovey slotted the ball home from the spot. Twenty six minutes had passed before Yate ‘s second attempt on goal this time a powerful drive from Jordan Hickman that Wells dealt with comfortably. Matt Tovey was the driving source in the Patchway team and always looked dangerous around the box.
The second forty five minutes did not inspire and was limited to plenty of midfield play but very little activity in or around the box. Matt Tovey’s 20 yard free kick went jus over in the sixty fifth minute and Yate were limited to just one opportunity a minute from the end a very good low shot from Luke Burman that was well saved by Wells.
The fixture of the day had to be at Gala Wilton where local rivals and league challengers Longlevens were the visitors. Everyone was expecting a close encounter and 118 spectators turned out to watch, but it went badly wrong for the home side who conceded six goals without reply. Longlevens showed their intentions right from the start and had two early chances, but Shaun O’Connor was just off target with both. In the seventy fifth minute Georon turned Wes Pugh’s shot around the post. Henbury thought they had scored on eighty five minute when Billy George’s shot struck the underside of the crossbar and bounced clear. Frampton should have made it three nil right on ninety minutes from the penalty spot but Tarr saved Chris Fower’s shot.

Southmead had a great chance to pull a goal back but Luke Mills’s effort was just off target.

It came from a low corner to the near post where fowler was waiting to turn the ball home. Thornbury’s Luke Franklin went close on a couple of occasions and Toby Bennett was only just wide with his effort on eighty minutes. The visitors put up a good display but never really looked like scoring.
Chipping Sodbury Town had to come back from two goals down and down to ten men after Danny Coombes was dismissed late in the first half. Kingswood took the lead on twenty three minutes from a Simon Clarke shot from the edge of the box that squirmed under keeper Ed Mullins.
