29th September 2013 - Respect Awards

The David Wilson Homes Gloucestershire County Football League again picked up an award in the FA's Respect program receiving the Bronze Award to make it three awards in four years.

Once again were looking to improve our Respect throughout the League and again the Dave Herbert Sportsmanship Cup will offer the chance of prize money of £1,750.

Clubs will need to stay under the 45 point total as they will lose 1 point for a caution and 3 points for a red card. This season will also see that yellow cards for dissent will lose 2 points and red cards for dissent will lose 5 points. Last season nine clubs achieved that with the winners being Rockleaze who picked up £400 after they picked up just up just 23 yellow cards in 36 games and no red cards.

Last season also saw referees marking clubs on four various accepts of the game:-

  1. Players Behavior
  2. Manager / Coach Behavior
  3. Spectators Behavior
  4. Effectiveness of the Captain controlling Players.

This saw clubs being rewarded over a five match total score with a reduction in points if clubs picked up yellow and red cards for language.

Prize money will again be on offer for this scheme as the league looks further into reducing dissent.

In an effort to improve respect referees will also be asked to mark technical areas wherw managers and substitutes will come under scrutiny for their behaviour.

At the end of season the total marks from referees saw Longlevens scoop the first prize and the best disciplined club award went to Rockleaze Rangers who picked up just one caution for dissent all season.

With over £2,000 ploughed into the Respect program those words or actions can now be so costly, think first as your actions will cost your club money.
